About Batik

Our batik process begins with high quality 100% cotton fabric. Through the process of “Batik,” the fabrics are transformed into unique and colorful garments. Images are drawn one at a time with melted wax on a piece of fabric. Every image is drawn freehand, or with original design stencils. After the wax hardens, each item is hand painted and then waxed over to seal in the color. In the dying process, although colors are unable to penetrate the patterns the cooled wax cracks allow some of the dye to seep through. This creates our one-of-a-kind designs. After dying, the fabric, or clothing, is boiled in soap and water to remove the wax. This shrinks the fabric and further sets the dye. Please wash your Stellar Batik with like colors in cold water and line or tumble dry.
